At a
Muslim youth camp in Central Florida, Ahmad Sakr conducts his
popular course specializing in the area of Islamic law. He frames
his presentation by outlining exactly what the shari'ah is and
identifying its ten sources. Speaking on the level of the youth,
he focuses on the proper understanding of Islam in the context
of American life and how to study Islam in general. This lecture
can be a useful tool for young Muslims growing up in the West
as the speaker discusses many of the pitfalls facing them in
secular society. Ideal for Muslim parents and their young children.
Other topics discussed: the Islamic role models, how to recite
Qur'an properly, cultural customs, and the farewell speech of
Prophet Muhammad (P). (Duration: 1 hour, 19 min) Ahmad Sakr was
educated at the American University in Beirut and the University
of Illinois where he received his PhD. He received his Islamic
education through the late Grand Mufti of Lebanon and from Muslim
scholars from neighboring countries. He was a founding member
and president of the Muslim Students' Association and also a
founding member of the World Council of Mosques in Makkah. Currently,
he is president of the Foundation for Islamic Knowledge and has
written over 56 books, not including the many articles he has
authored and published.
