A great
overview of the science of purifying the self in a wonderfully
spiritual setting of Yosemite National Park. Through four sessions
at a California weekend retreat, Mokhtar Maghraoui inspires the
audience to be self-reflective and to assess the state of their
nafs (inner self) in the context of completing the journey back
to Paradise. The completion of this journey is largely dependent
on the type of nafs we possess: the cattle-like nafs, the predator-like
nafs, the satanic-like nafs or the angelic-like nafs. How do
we determine which one we possess and how do we elevate our nafs
to a state that is pleasing to our Creator? In analyzing these
states of the soul, the imam also prescribes practical ways to
guard against its debasement by both Shaitan and our lower desires.
And finally, the example of the purified soul, that of our beloved
Prophet Muhammad (P), is discussed in an effort to make the lessons
of this series more relevant to our daily lives. (Duration: 4
hours, 22 min) Includes the following titles: The Inner Struggle
of the Self, Various States of the Self and Cultivating Its Good,
Seven Keys to Safeguarding the Self, The Balanced Nature of the
Prophet (P)
